WEBSITE SECURITY TERMS

Since Troop 333 owns its own server we are able to monitor some things that many troops cannot.

ADDED SECURITY

We provide an extra layer of security. For example, we can conduct most of our business electronically without using public email. Scouts identities are protected and they can communicate without having their personal information viewed or captured in the outside world.

VISITORS ARE RECORDED

For anyone visiting our website that is known we have the IP address on file and their logins are also noted.

For anyone visiting our site that is not registered with the troop you may visit the public pages only, and ALL IPs are cataloged with every page viewed for future reference. We do this to detect robots that are allowed to scan our pages for indexing on sites like Google, and to allow direct inquiries from parents who may want to contact us. These proper uses of our website are allowed and permissible.

IP BLOCKING CAPABILITY & USER TRACING

If after visiting our site your IP is blocked and you find you have no computer access, then you will need to contact our system administrator using the ADMINISTRATOR contact form on the CONTACT US page. We routinely block all unknown IPs and trace their geographic location of origination to safeguard against intrusion.

For example, we can detect whether the individual accessed our site from a private home computer, a public computer or even an android phone or blackberry. All devices, their operating systems, and software are all kept on file with the timestamps of access to safeguard the scouts.

We encourage more troops to take such precautions, but until then parents will have to be vigilant about how their scout accounts are accessed and how information is shared in the public.

MASKED EMAIL

By using masked email we make it impossible for data mining to occur or spam to be sent to any member of the troop. If you make an effort to keep your email private you will not receive any spam. If there is spam recorded we have several layers of filtering to block entire countries, individuals, companies, domains, etc.

SECURITY SUMMARY

Our hope is that our troop will enjoy many years of quality friendship and dedication to the growth of the scouts without interference by outsiders who look for opportunities online. By taking these extra steps from the start, Troop 333 has ensured that everyone using the site in a permissible manner is welcome and those who violate the spirit of scouting are blocked.
